Collahuasi Mine in Chile Is Unaffected by 6.2-Magnitude Temblor

March 6 (Bloomberg) — Operations at Anglo American Plc and Xstrata Plc’s Collahuasi copper mine, the world’s third biggest, were not affected by a temblor that shook southern Peru and northern Chile earlier today, Collahuasi spokesperson Bernardita Fernandez said in a telephone interview.
The earthquake struck at 7:32 a.m. New York time and measured 6.2 degrees on the Richter scale, according to information posted on the website of the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor was located 92 kilometers (57 miles) east of the Peruvian city of Tacna and 108 kilometers from the Chilean city of Arica. It had a depth of 88 kilometers.
